CALHOUN COUNTY CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER AND CALHOUN COUNTY CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER INVESTIGATOR ARE NAACP’S GUEST AT THE
PEOPLE’S LAW SCHOOL MARCH 16, 2010 6:30 P.M.-8:30 P.M. GUESTS
Calhoun County Chief Medical Examiner Mehmet Ismailoglu, M.D., a Battle Creek internist, and Dr. Ismailoglu’s Chief Medical Examiner Investigator, Bob Demski, are the guest speakers for the March 16, 2010, 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. NAACP People’s Law School programming, held at the Urban League Building, 172 W. Van Buren, in Battle Creek.
Dr. Ismailoglu and Mr. Demski are charged to attend all Calhoun County deaths to determine both manner and cause of death. Each is occasionally called upon to testify in criminal and (to a lesser degree) civil proceedings in which manner or cause of death is an issue.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE LAWYERS ARE GUEST AT THE
FEBRUARY 16, 2010 6:30 P.M. NAACP PEOPLE’S LAW SCHOOL PROGRAM
Criminal defense lawyers Lesley Kranenberg and Justin McCarthy, partners in the Kranenberg and McCarthy, P.C., law firm, are the featured speakers at this month’s NAACP People’s Law School program, scheduled February 16, 2010, at the Battle Creek Urban League building, 172 W. Van Buren, in Battle Creek, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Ms. Kranenberg specializes in both state and federal criminal defense representation. In addition to representation of criminal defendants in capital crimes cases at trial, she too undertakes post-conviction representation. She is an expert in DNA evidence. Before beginning her private law partnership with Mr. McCarthy, Ms. Kranenberg worked for the Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and, before that, worked in the office of the U.S. Attorney for Michigan’s Western District. In addition to her private practice, Ms. Kranenberg presently is a Juvenile Family Court weekend referee.
Mr. McCarthy like Ms. Kranenberg specializes in criminal representation, but confines his practice to state court venues. He too is a former Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney’s assistant. He like Ms. Kranenberg is too now a weekend referee for a Juvenile Family Court.
Ms. Kranenberg and Mr. McCarthy will discuss the criminal defense practice in different court venues, including juvenile family divisions.

She will present 2010 Census Laws and Rules. She will use the hour to bring understanding on the U.S. Census Bureau and how it will benefit our State and Calhoun County . In addition, she will discuss how the hiring system works, for those looking for a job, and when, how and where the test will be conducted.
This live taping (presented on Access Vision) will take place at the Urban League Building , 172 W. Van Buren Street . It will be beneficiary to have an audience there to ask the real questions that citizens of Battle Creek and surrounding communities need to ask and get the answers to their questions.
