Winnie Wallace is the Education Committee Chair for the Battle Creek Chapter of the NAACP. She brings with her an extensive history in working with the Battle Creek Public Schools, as well as commmunity involvement within the Battle Creek Community. She will continue to report to us the intitatives that she is involved in and how we can continue to participate and give support.

The 2010 BC NAACP HERITAGE QUIZ BOWL will take place this year on Friday February 26th and Saturday Februray 27th , 2009. Since 1991, the Battle Creek Branch of the NAACP has engaged its community youth in the ANNUAL NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl during February Black History Month. 2009 NAACP HERITAGE QUIZ BOWL- SATURDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2009 Since 1991, the Battle Creek Branch of the NAACP has engaged its community youth in the ANNUAL NAACP Heritage Quiz Bowl during February Black History Month. The Annual Heritage Quiz Bowl, honors Mr. Charles W. Cribbs, NAACP Past President (1985-1986), Golden Life NAACP Member, and also the first African American Board Member of the Battle Creek Public Schools in Battle Creek Michigan. In 2009 year close to 250, 4th - 8th grade students from the area Battle Creek Public Schools participated in the jeopardy-style competition where students are quizzed on African American and NAACP History, literature, arts, along with parents, teachers and coaches
Students representing 6 elementary schools and 4 junior high schools assembled this year on Saturday February 21st, 2009, at the Battle Creek High School McQuiston Center to compete with hopes of winning and taking back to their school the 2009 Annual Heritage Quiz Championship.
Each winner was recognized with a individual NAACP Bronze Academic Medal, and every student participant received a commemorative T-Shirt, African American Achievers backpack, book marker, and a commemorative presidential wristband.
The NAACP Annual Heritage Quiz Bowl competition is sponsored and coordinated this year by the NAACP Education Committee, Ms. Winnie Wallace, Chairperson, and is co-sponsored and collaborated with the Battle Creek Community Foundation, Summit Pointe, and the Battle Creek Public Schools.
