Rev. Gill L. Ford Regional Director of the NAACP
Rev. Gill L. Ford serves as Regional Director for the
National Association for the Advancement of Colored
People, and has oversight of 25 States. He has
worked in the NAACP in numerous capacities, from
Legal Redress Chair, to Branch Vice-President, to
State Political Action Chair to State Conference President.
His love for the work of the NAACP is born out of a belief and
conviction that “we are our Brother’s keeper” and that God will hold us
accountable for how we have helped and served one another.
After completing high school, Rev. Ford pursued his call as a minister,
receiving both his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Theology. He
served as the Pastor of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church in
Denver, CO for 23 years.
Rev. Ford has served on numerous Boards and Committees such as
the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, Colorado
Department of Education: Closing the Achievement Gap,
Juvenile/Restorative Justice and many others. However, he considers
serving as the Executive Director of the Daddy Bruce Thanksgiving
project – a program that provided over 6,500 families with a complete
meal to cook at home on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving as, his
most rewarding.
Rev. Ford strongly believes that young people should not have to get
in trouble to get our time and attention. He has made a long-standing
commitment to work with mentoring programs for youth and young
adults, including but not limited to regularly conducting workshops for
youth in juvenile detention facilities.
Rev. Ford attributes all of his successes in life to God and his parents
the late Guy L. and Inge F. Ford. In addition, he is grateful for his wife,
Shalia M. Ford.
